How to Make Paper Spider Webs Kids Craft

Image
One craft my daughter never gets bored with is that of making paper snowflakes for winter and webs for Halloween. She is very happy to sit there and fold and cut, making up her own designs that can be hung up or stuck in the window as quick, easy and inexpensive decorations. Making paper spider webs is a great craft for children who have mastered the art of using child friendly scissors often from around the age of 3 - 5. It is also good practice for those who are learning to use scissors more comfortably. This kids craft can really help to develop those fine motor skills as they grasp and manipulate the scissors and it can also help with adults wanting to teach good safety measures with these instruments too. Depending on the age and skill of the child, supervision may of course be required.

Cool Ideas on Decorating a Mirror for Halloween

Image
I've already made a start on decorating now for Halloween because we don't get an awful lot of readily available decorations locally near where I live and I'm not going to spend a fortune buying them off the Internet when I can make them myself. There are lots of ways in which mirrors can be given some serious spooky treatment and I’ll be giving lots of inspiration for that in this post after I've shown you a couple of things that I've done myself to jazz up our own. There's a bit of DIY crafting going on and that eats up a lot of my time but it's also a lot of fun. Let's see what you can do to decorate a mirror this Halloween that looks really cool.

How to Make a Wire Wreath Frame from a Hanger

Image
You can buy all sorts of forms, frames and bases so that you can make your very own DIY wreath but it's really a whole lot more satisfying to make your own and especially if you can make your own by using or re-purposing an item that you have readily available already in the home. Most of us have wire clothes hangers readily available to use and these are perfect to make your own rings with for making a wreath. I’ll show you how with the step by step photos, details and tips below. My favorite way to make frames or bases is to use cardboard since I tend to have lots of this ready to use at any given time. However the big downside with that material is that it's a lot more perishable and not as durable (if it gets damp or wet particularly) as using a material such as wire.

Making Wreaths for Halloween with Mesh

Image
Guests to your home and Trick-or-Treaters will get a wonderful welcome with a wicked wreath for Halloween displayed on your front door. You may even prefer to choose to hang it up inside your home instead on an interior wall or propped up on the fireplace mantel. A decorative ring form adorned with ribbons, feathers, twigs, paper or other fun materials can make a really eye-catching centerpiece wherever you opt to place it. You can easily make your own DIY Halloween wreaths using a mesh fabric. Just below, you can see how to make your own wreath for this occasion worked from the material called Deco Mesh complete with written instructions and a video to follow.

How to Tie Tulle around a Wreath Ring

Image
Making your own wreaths for occasions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Fall, birthdays and other events and themes is really easy once you understand how it is that you can tie or attach the tulle netting fabric to your base or frame. No matter which style of base you have for your handmade wreath - the basic principle of tying your tulle strips on remains exactly the same. You’ll learn how this is done with these step by step photos below. Your base can be as simple and inexpensive as a circle frame cut from a thick piece of cardboard (packaging such as Amazon boxes make a nice, sturdy choice) or they might be a wire frame that you’ve made yourself or bought ready-made or even a styrofoam one.

How to Make a Witch Spell Book Tutorial

Image
A witch's spell book prop makes a great decoration for a large display unit and I wanted one. I didn't care to spend too much time making this Halloween prop because I've got lots of other decorations to work on too. I came up with this quick witch spell book tutorial which doesn't take hours of your time to make and looks simply amazing. You just need to allow some drying time for thick coats of paint and glitter.   Grab yourself a hard cover notebook or unwanted reading book that you can use to turn into a feature Halloween piece. Your completed book will sit on a display shelf, book case, mantel or a stand where it can be admired and appreciated by all your guests.

Hanging Felt Butterfly Decoration for Halloween

Image
Love butterfly crafts? Why not make some fun no-sew hanging butterflies as decorations for Halloween. Make one larger statement piece or make lots in smaller sizes to dot around a room. I've made this hanging butterfly in a bright pumpkin orange felt fabric overlapped onto dark gray with a black body section. Also try combinations with purple and green wings for colors that work well with this occasion. This makes for a fun hanging decoration that can be suspended from a ceiling or archway as if in flight or hung flat down a wall. They also make great motifs too for other craft projects.

Easy How to Make a Tulle Wreath for Halloween

Image
Tulle wreaths are easy for most people to have a go at making and they can be made in a matter of hours too. See how easy it is to make a tulle wreath for Halloween that you can display. This fabric is a stiffer netting which makes it ideal since it will stand vertically and not just flop down as most fabrics would. It's ideal to use this netting for any decorations that you will use certainly indoors.  Tulle can be used outdoors on a fine day but remember to bring it inside overnight as damp will not benefit it at all. You are better off using a unique and much stiffer material called Deco Mesh for items that you want to place outdoors and that's because it's more weatherproof.

Eyeball and Skull Paper Fans for Halloween

Image
A while back, I did a craft showing you how to make some round paper fan decorations which you can hang from a ceiling or on the wall. Today we're taking that concept a bit further and focusing on a much more grown-up version of that decoration. Enjoy these skull and eyeball paper fan designs which make great hanging and wall decorations for Halloween. There's also a spider and web one too, not shown in the photo, which you can make with the free printable at the end of this post. These Halloween paper fans are enhanced by the free design motifs that you can print off and use in the center of each decoration. Choose from a spiderweb, some eerie eyeballs to watch your guests everywhere they go and a menacing skull.

How to Make Paper Fans for Decorations

Image
Making round paper fans is an easy craft that both kids and adults can do to make hanging decorations from small sizes up to large depending on the sheet sizes you use for construction. This easy DIY paper fan craft can be used for Fall and Halloween as decor to hang on doors, mantels, walls and even from the ceiling. I like to use them as larger statement pieces. They look complicated to make when in fact these are easy peasy providing you know how to make accordion or concertina folds.  If you don't know how to make this zig zag style of valleys and mountains in sheets of paper, you'll find a gazillion tutorials on YouTube if you look for how to accordion or concertina fold. Most kids learn how to do this at school or in simple crafting activities.

Easy Halloween Tissue Paper Garland Tutorial

Image
This is a quick and easy craft to make a simple hanging decoration or garland using tissue paper. It's so quick and easy that kids can learn to make this too. They will need to know how to fold concertina or accordion style, how to cut with scissors and how to tie a double knot. Many age 7+ children will have some or all of the skills to create this easy Halloween tissue paper garland. We choose to make this using black and orange tissue paper for the Fall season.  Black and a nice pumpkin orange fit with our theme well but you may want to choose ghostly white, grays, purples, monster greens, blood reds or other colors that work with your own choice of decorations around the home.

DIY Mini Pumpkin Halloween Dip Bowl

Image
If you're looking for a perfect sized container to hold dips for a Halloween party or occasion, large orange fruit are just the perfect shape and size to use and they can easily be carved to look just like a small version of a Jack O' Lantern too. These DIY mini pumpkin dip bowls are much more inexpensive to use than real pumpkins and means you can use many different ones for all your snacks and appetizers. Luckily making this mini pot or dip bowl is fairly easy to do and makes for a fun DIY job. First, you need 1 large orange for each dip that you’re going to have. I made my containers on the actual day of the party, but you could make them the day before and then store them in the refrigerator.
