Free Printable Halloween Crafts: Templates, Silhouettes and Labels

Free printable Halloween crafts are the quickest way to decorate: print a template, silhouette or sign at home, cut it out and you have a window display, a costume piece or a party prop in minutes. This page gathers every free printable on Just Halloween Crafts in one place, grouped by what you want to make, so you can find the right one without clicking through old posts.
Each printable below links to its own page, where you will find the download, the paper size, and step-by-step instructions for turning it into a finished craft. Further down there are printing tips that save ink and card, and a short FAQ.
What You Need
- A home printer (black and white is enough for most silhouettes and templates)
- Plain printer paper for templates you will trace, and white card or cardstock for signs and labels
- Black card or craft foam for silhouettes and costume pieces
- Scissors, and a craft knife and cutting mat for fine details (adults only)
- A pencil or white gel pen for tracing onto dark card
- Glue stick, tape, string or ribbon for hanging
Silhouettes and Cutouts
Silhouettes are the most versatile printables: print them, trace them onto black card and use them on windows, walls, mantelpieces and cards. Every template here is a simple shape, so they are easy to cut with scissors.
- Free printable crow silhouettes: crow and raven shapes in different poses, perfect for a gothic window or a "Nevermore" party theme.
- Black crow craft cutouts: how to turn the crow templates into realistic birds to perch on shelves and picture frames.
- Half butterfly silhouette template: print the half shape, flip it to trace a perfectly symmetrical butterfly, and see how to make a butterfly silhouette template you can reuse.
- Hanging felt butterfly decoration: the butterfly template cut from felt and hung as a mobile.
Prefer to cut freehand? Our paper spider web craft needs no template at all, just a paper circle and a few folds.
Craft Templates
These templates are patterns for a specific project: print, cut out, trace onto the final material and follow the tutorial.
- Bat pom pom wing template: printable wings for a black yarn pom pom bat.
- Maleficent horns template: horn shapes to trace onto card or craft foam for a costume headband, with full instructions in how to make a Maleficent horn headband.
- Eyeball and skull paper fans: round paper fan decorations with spooky centers to hang from the ceiling.

Door Signs and Party Signs
- No trick or treating signs: polite signs for nights when you would rather not have callers.
- You've Been Booed poem sign: the printable poem for "booing" a neighbor with a treat basket.
- Flying lessons witch sign: a fun sign for a door, a broomstick display or a witch-themed party.
Labels and Props
- Halloween potion bottle labels: aged-parchment labels for jars and bottles. Pair them with our guide to DIY Halloween potion bottles.
- Halloween book spines: ten printable spines that turn ordinary books into a witch's or wizard's library.
Tip: for silhouettes you will use more than once, trace the printed template onto a cereal box and cut it out. A card template lasts for years and is much easier to draw around than thin paper.
How to Print Halloween Templates at the Right Size
To print a template at the size it was designed, choose "Actual size" or "100%" in the print dialog rather than "Fit to page". Fit to page shrinks the design slightly to fit the printer margins, which matters for things like horn templates that need to match a headband. If you want a silhouette bigger or smaller, use the scale setting instead: 150% makes a crow large enough for a front window, and 50% makes small ones for cards.
If an edge of the design is cut off, check that the paper size setting matches the paper in your printer (US letter or A4) and try again.
Paper and Ink Tips
- Templates you will trace: plain printer paper in draft or "ink saver" mode is fine, because the print only needs to be visible enough to cut around.
- Signs and labels on show: print on white card or cardstock at normal or best quality so they stand up and look crisp.
- Silhouettes: rather than printing large areas of solid black, print the outline on plain paper, then trace it onto black card. It saves a lot of ink.
- Outdoor signs: slip them into a clear plastic sleeve or laminate them so rain and dew do not make the ink run.
Troubleshooting
- The printout looks pale or streaky. Check the ink levels and run your printer's nozzle-clean or head-clean option.
- The card will not feed through the printer. Many home printers take thin card through the rear or manual feed tray. Check your printer's manual for the maximum paper weight.
- Thin parts tear when cutting. Use a craft knife on a cutting mat for small details such as crow legs, and cut slowly from the inside of the shape outwards.
Free Printable Halloween Crafts FAQ
Are these Halloween printables free?
Yes. Every printable linked on this page is free to download and print at home, in the classroom or for your own party. Please link to the original page rather than sharing the files directly, so others can find the instructions too.
What paper should I use for printable Halloween crafts?
Use plain printer paper for templates you will trace and white cardstock for signs, labels and anything that needs to stand up. For silhouettes, print on paper and trace onto black card. Craft foam is best for costume pieces such as horns.
Can kids use these printables?
Yes. Simple shapes such as crows, butterflies and bat wings are good scissor practice for children from about age five. An adult should handle craft knives and any tiny details, and younger children can color or decorate pieces an adult has cut out.
How do I make a printable bigger for a window?
Set the scale in your print dialog above 100%, or use the "poster" or "tile" option some printers offer to spread one design across several sheets. Tape the sheets together, then trace the outline onto large black card.
Printables are a great base for other crafts too: make a witch hat to go with the flying lessons sign, set up a potion shelf with the labels, or give kids a break from scissors with edible Halloween crafts they can make and eat. Browse every download in the Free Printables category.
